Press Release

In a statement to the voters of Watauga and Ashe counties, Cullie Tarleton, a candidate for the NC State House, District 93, said:

This district deserves a representative who will be an engaging, active, energized, involved member, who will be a strong voice on the House floor and will work hard every day for the people of Ashe and Watauga. I am that person.  I have the time, energy, knowledge and desire to serve.

I am a strong pro-business, dyed in the wool fiscal conservative candidate. I have run large businesses like WBT, WBTV and WCCB. I’m also an advocate for small businesses including the many family owned businesses we have here in the high country. It’s these many smaller businesses that keep the economic wheels turning in our district. It’s profitable businesses that creates jobs and we need new jobs in this district. North Carolina has lost more jobs than any other state, job losses that have been felt in this district. We’ve seen jobs move to other counties. I’ll work closely with the Governor and his economic team to bring new, well paying jobs to this district.

I will be a strong voice in Raleigh for our University, community colleges, our public school system, improved health care, transportation and roads, the environment and for ways to grow, manage and best capitalize on tourism which is so important to our district.

I am a person of deep faith with strong family values. Sylvia, a retired public school teacher and I have been married almost forty-seven (47) years. We have three (3) adult children and six (6) grandchildren.

I make this promise to the citizens who live and work in Ashe and Watauga counties. I will work hard for you everyday.
